What’s What in the Heliosphere
Welcome, everyone, for the eighth time, to the Helios Report! We hope you all had a great week. Here we will talk about testing (as usual), the Town Hall Strikes Back, the Helios Army: Round 2, and a new section is coming soon. Gobble it all up here like a duck in a chicken in a turkey…
We are very excited to say that all the grinding is really paying off as the smart contract testing is just killing it! The wait is almost over! Make sure you stay up to date right here for the latest!
This past Tuesday we held our second ever Helios Town Hall Meeting Q & A session! It was a great follow-up to the first one. It went smashingly and we had a great turnout! We thank all of you who submitted questions and had them answered live during the stream on Twitch! For those of you who missed it, the video can be viewed here. If you would like the chance to participate in the next Town Hall Meeting, be sure to join our Discord and submit your questions in the #town-hall-meeting-q-and-a channel and if your question is answered during the stream you get 25 $HLS! The next live stream will take place on November 26th. After this meeting, we will be having a hiatus for the holidays for the Town Hall Meetings. They will resume after the New Year has begun so be sure to get those questions in before the holiday break!
The second wave of recruits were welcomed into the Helios Army this week. This marks the second-ever recruitment period. We are happy to have the new members become a part of the elite. The Army is growing stronger every day and they are consistently out in force spreading the Helios message and earning a nice chunk of $HLS in the process! Helios Army Strong!!!
In case you missed it, we began collecting suggestions on which DApp will be featured in our upcoming Helios Report section called, DAppNation. Each week we will be taking suggestions from anyone who wants to nominate a DApp project. This week we’re picking the top 10 most mentioned DApps and will hold a community vote in our Telegram channel. The DApp with the most votes will be featured in a review of the project and will first appear in The helios Report #10 and continue every week thereafter. Based on the feedback we get after this first week, we may switch it up to a different format and the DApp with the most mentions will be reviewed the following week. The suggestions are live now so tag your favourite DApp project here!

This Week in Mass Adoption
If you are not excited about all of the news stories that show mass adoption is gaining traction then you are in the wrong space! Just this week there was big news from UK ad standards body, Jicwebs, big banks in little countries are using the Blockchain for economic stimulation, Walmart shipping hits the Blockchain, Coinbase has added some great news to the space, and plenty more occurred as well! Read on for more not-so-gory details…
The Joint Industry Committee for Web Standards, or Jicwebs, the UK digital ad trading standards body, has been joined by Unilever, O2, and Sky in its Blockchain pilot to combat fraud and increase transparency and trust in the advertising industry. As reported by the UK’s Campaign, Gumtree, Netmums, and Rightmove also joined the pilot whose initial members include Nestlé, McDonald’s and Virgin Media who joined in July. If successful, Jicwebs will expand the pilot program into an industry-wide initiative in 2020.
As reported by Ledger Insights, Thailand’s Bank of Ayudhya launched the Krungsri Blockchain Interledger which offers the transfer of funds between Thailand and Laos in real-time. The platform will use Thai baht and USD to try to boost cross-border trade between the two countries. The Blockchain uses Interledger, the same tech that RippleNet is based on for cross-border payments.
DLT Labs announced in a press release that they have partnered with Walmart Canada to launch the “World’s largest full production Blockchain solution for industrial application”. This is the first-ever “enterprise full production blockchain solution launched at a large scale for a mission-critical function to date”. They are utilizing this tech to connect the more than 70 third-party trucking companies Walmart Canada uses to transport inventory across the nation.
In not-so-hot-off-the-press news from EIN Newsdesk in the UK, Brocolli, the community app from Audacia Bioscience, is partnering with Measure Protocol to build a Blockchain-based community of Cannabis users. Through Broccoli, Audacia Bioscience is “seeking to close the information gap surrounding cannabis and will use the new community to connect with consumers, gather insights and share valuable data as it relates to the swiftly maturing cannabis industry”. Dr. Phillip Olla, Co-CEO of Audacia Bioscience said; “It’s time to bring Cannabis to the mainstream. Part of achieving this goal means gathering insights from cannabis users, making them feel welcomed and heard”.
Canada’s Customs and Border Protection of the Department of Homeland Security is going to try to modify an existing Blockchain application from Mavennet Systems to track oil and natural gas shipments coming from the United States. The BaaS (Blockchain-as-a-Service) platform is currently being used by Canadian commercial oil markets for real-time audits of natural gas trading. The DHS Science and Technology Directorate invested $182,700 into Mavennet. GCN reported that “Mavennet will create a generic end-to-end platform the agency can use to track any variety of imported commodities”.
On their blog, Coinbase announced five more Cryptocurrencies are now available to spend with a Coinbase Card and ten more countries now have access to said card. Coinbase has added Ripple ($XRP), 0x ($ZRX), Augur ($REP), Basic Attention Token ($BAT), and Stellar ($XLM) to the lineup which already includes Bitcoin ($BTC), Ethereum ($ETH), Litecoin ($LTC), and Bitcoin Cash ($BCH). It was also said that customers from the following European countries can now begin using the card; Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Hungary, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, and Croatia respectively.
UPS reported via press release that they have successfully delivered and tracked a shipment of beef on the Blockchain. In a collaboration with HerdX, an agri-tech solutions provider based in the US, shipped an order of beef from Kansas to Japan. The meat was “wrapped in UPS Temperature True packaging, a cold chain thermal management solution that features temperature-sensitive air freight containers” and “contained sensors that monitored and recorded the shipment’s temperature from origin to destination”. UPS brokerages had to work directly with customs officials in both the US and Japan to acquire the correct certificates for the shipment. HerdX announced they will be using this system from here on out for their meat shipments.
